Windy in Amarillo? Not so fast…

In Amarillo, the wind blows. That’s a fact. But, during the last ten days, a lot of people feel as if it has been particularly strong. We’ve had a few bouts with a Blowing Dust Advisory and a Dust Storm Warning. Throw in a few counties under a Wind Advisory a handful of times, too.

A lot of people have been asking, “This is just about as windy as it’s ever been, right?”

Well, not so fast. There have been some pretty prolific winds across the panhandles over the years. I don’t think our recent rounds or wind rank very high up on the list.

But take a look at where we stand compared to the last three years…
