I wanted to try something a bit different for the Monthly Outlook for December. This time I put it into a little newsletter-looking thing. This isn’t going to be the “norm” for out I kick these out, but I wanted to give it a shot to see how it looked.
I love writing on this blog, but there are things I can do on the newsletter layout that I just can’t do on this website. Wrapping text around multiple images without it looking totally ugly is one thing. It is a lot easier to host one file as the outlook as opposed to multiple images and text.
Again, not the new normal, but a fun change of pace.
The one thing that didn’t fit on the page, though, was an update about rainfall and severe weather. Based on what I found it looks like while the region will be warmer, it may not have to deal with extra severe weather with it. Based on the prelim findings, I would hypothesize that near-average rainfall is more likely but it won’t come via multiple rounds of severe weather.
Instead it looks like this type of pattern may promote more “regular rain” events with showers and storms, but not an increased risk for severe weather.
Keep in mind, this doesn’t mean the region will see zero severe weather, it just means the likelihood of extra severe weather is very low. Historically speaking, there tend to be at least a few severe weather days along the Gulf Coast every December. So a ‘not any higher’ risk means there is still a risk.
Here’s one vote in favor of the newsletter format. Also happy for the slightly warmer weather.
