This is about as nice a forecast as you can get for the MS/AL/LA in the Fall. Temperatures will be in the 60s and 70s. A cold front is moving through with no severe weather. And overnight lows will be in the 40s.
In fact! If we can keep this up, there is a good chance that all of these cool night will help the leaves change colors a bit more this Fall. Often the leaves in the region just go from green to a few days of yellow, to brown. If we can continue to see nights with temperatures in the 40s like this, and maybe even sneak in a few 30s here and there through the middle of the month, we may get some reds and oranges, too.
Looking down the road a bit farther, There is another chance for more potent showers and storms as we move through next week.
As another system pushes through the Great Lakes, it will open the door for a storms to develop along a cold front. The early indications are, though, that this front may not be in much of a hurry. That means storms may develop along it and train to the northeast causing more of a flooding concern than a severe weather concern.
The other piece of this puzzle is the lack of colder air behind this front. Cooler? Sure. Cold? Doesn’t look like it. At least not at this point for the Gulf Coast. This is part of the reason the cold front won’t be in much of a hurry – there isn’t much cold air behind it.
All of this is something I’ll continue to monitor during the next few days.

About when do you see the front showing up next week and how long do you see it taking to finally push through? Tidbits has the precip showing up on Thursday and not getting out until sometime late Friday. BTW, the temps right now are just right!
Still a bit too early to nail down specifically. I do think a two-day event is possible though with one day being more stormy and the other day just being soggy.
Keep up the great work, Nick! Many thanks…
