Thanks again to everyone who checked in yesterday with your location. It looks like there are handful of folks in some extra Mississippi counties, one or two Alabama counties, as well as some Louisiana parishes.
For those of you in Washington County, Alabama, I know yo guys don’t really “have” a TV station with weather coverage. So, I would highly recommend you check out RedZone Weather. Spinks Megginson is a terrific forecaster and all around great guy. And he already covers your area. For those of you in Choctaw County, either you can come here, or maybe you can poke Spinks enough and he’ll add you to his coverage area.
I’ll try to expand the forecast radius in the coming days to try to include those areas on the map. I don’t think much will change in the end, but I will try my best to highlight more things here and there when needed.
The big question is… What do I call this area? It is no longer “South Mississippi. Perhaps the “LAMSAL” or “southern LAALMS” or maybe “MSALLA”? I may be partial to the last one. Because “Ms. Alla” sounds like the name of a great First Grade teacher.

As for today, it looks like a few afternoon and evening storms will be possible – mainly after 1pm. Storms may feature some heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty wind at times. But severe weather is not anticipated.
The next few days actually look pretty nice, too. The rain should ease back and temperatures won’t be quite as warm and the humidity should be a touch lower, too.
Out in the Tropics the NHC continues to monitor Invest 91L in the Gulf. And it continues to look like more of a problem for Florida than for Louisiana and Mississippi.
And if you missed it, Larry was putting on quite the show over the weekend. It grew to have a very large eye. It was about 70 miles across at one point.
It was still not as big as the largest eye that I’ve ever seen on satellite, but it was close!
Some of you may remember Typhoon Soulik a few years ago. It had an eye 82 miles across.
That said, Larry’s eye is still about twice the size of Katrina’s eye.
