Southern MS / AL / LA Weather Forecast 9/30/21

The forecast for this weekend continues to look a tad bit soggy. Not a washout. And I still think you’ll be able to get in some outdoor activities. But you won’t be completely ‘home free’ with sunshine, either. There also seems to be some disagreement between the model guidance with respect to the rain early next week, too.

So as much as I know everyone would like another week of dry, it doesn’t look like that is in the cards at the moment.

In fact! There is a big ridge over Hudson Bay up in Canada right now. And upon further research by my colleague at my ‘regular job’ he found that it correlates to a cooler/wetter pattern for the northern Gulf Coast.

And look where we are! Sitting plum in the middle of a cooler (okay, well not completely) and wetter pattern. I say not completely because the average for this time of year is 60 for a low and 85 for a high. Yesterday, most spots got up to around 88.

Today most spots will only reach about 82. And it is roughly 70 degrees out there this morning.

And until that ridge breaks down, the weather along the Gulf coast isn’t going to change much. Sure, there will be drier days, and wetter days still. But it looks like things will remain slightly cooler and slightly wetter than average pattern won’t move until that thing does.

And that thing isn’t in much of a hurry.
