Things will be breezy for the next 36 hours, but outside of that meaningfully disruptive weather is going to leave for a few days. There is drizzle possible overnight tonight, but I don’t know if that classifies as “disruptive” weather.
Wind Advisories are likely going to be in effect from local National Weather Service offices. Sustained wind between 15mph and 30mph will be possible with gusts up to 40mph in some places. If you will be towing or driving any high-profile vehicles, it is a ‘both hands on the wheel’ kind of day.
All of this wind is ushering in much cooler temperatures. Model guidance wants to keep temperatures in the – GULP! – 50s on Friday, but I don’t really buy that.
Like with the Karrie Meter, perhaps I should buy it, but it is a tough sell. The model data (above) is compelling, showing the front that just passed through marching off the east coast, with the area of low pressure up in the Ohio River Valley continuing to pump cooler, drier air into the Southeast.
If this verifies, temperatures will struggle to make it to 60 degrees. But man, that would put it in the Top 5 for the coldest afternoon highs on record for many, many areas across the Southeast. For many of you that have followed this blog for many years, you probably remember me saying, many times,…
A lot like with the Heat of 2014, the December snow of 2017, or the cold of February 2020, it is difficult to sit here and say, “A record temperatures that is 25-degrees off of the normal will occur in 24 hours.”
Instead, I tend to think the mid 60s is a bit more likely. But just know, I could be wrong, and we may all be stuck in the 50s. And it’ll be breezy, too.
