Dry through Friday, some showers this weekend: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 12/1/21

Back in the saddle! I know the forecasts have been ‘short & sweet’ the last few days while I’ve been visiting family, but I’m back to work today. It was great to be home. I got to see much of the extended family – including my uncle who is fighting back cancer – so it was a great trip.

The weather is calm for the next few days, but it does look like December is going to pick up steam as we head through the first full week of the month.

In the meantime, high pressure is in control and mostly sunny skies will prevail. through Friday. We will likely see some fair weather cumulus cruise by this weekend and even some morning fog here and there. So far it looks like this first system will only offer a few brief shots for some rain.

Next week’s first system may not bring much more than regular rain

Next week, though, model guidance is showing a much more active pattern with two systems pushing through. One that looks to bring some regular rain and another that may feature some storms and the potential for some severe weather. I’m not completely sold on the threat yet, but Monday through Thursday of next week you’ll want to keep tabs on the weather.

Skew-T and Hodograph for next Wednesday from the ECMWF weather model aren’t overly enthusiastic about the threat for severe weather

Beyond that, it looks like any of the real cold air will be locked up north or back west. So for you Winter Lovers, you’ll have to hang in there for another 10 days (or more) before any real chance for “cold” shows up across the Gulf Coast.
