Calm next few days, more storms next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast

After a very busy day, yesterday, things are looking much calmer going forward. The NWS is still tallying storm reports, but the map below highlights some of the severe weather reports so far.

As a reminder, if you have storm damage, please make sure you let the NWS know via Facebook or Twitter. Or contact your local Emergency Management and let them know. This will help the NWS know what happened and help you when it is time to file for insurance.

Looking forward, we get about five to seven days of calm, nice, and dry weather before the next system arrives in the middle of next week. Highs will be in the 70s and overnight lows will bottom out around 50.

Next Wednesday/Thursday it looks like another system will swing through. This will offer another chance for showers and storms. Severe weather can’t be ruled out. Currently the CIPS Analogs are already showing an area worth watching.

But I really want to stress that this is more than a week out so while we can’t rule it out…. I’m not ready to rule it “in” either.
