Another day, another typical summertime forecast: SE MS / SW AL Weather Forecast – 7/31/22

Unlike other parts of the country dealing with impactful weather (flooding in Kentucky, wildfires/flash flooding in the desert southwest and west coast), we continue to enjoy seasonal temperatures and daily showers and thunderstorms. Currently, we sit under a region of high pressure that more or less covers most of the southern US, which has been the main reason for the seasonal conditions being experienced now and later through the upcoming week. In conjunction with this, we still have an unusually moist airmass parked over the area, with PW values still at 2 inches or greater.

Temperatures don’t look to vary too wildly through the next week. Average temperatures look to be in the low to mid 90s during the day and in the low to mid 70s throughout the night. Those who do see rainfall may enjoy temperatures during the day as low as the mid to upper 70s. Heat indices will continue to be seasonal throughout the week, with values in the upper 90s to low 100s.

As previously mentioned, showers and thunderstorms will remain a daily occurrence throughout the next week. With the high PW values, wet microbursts and localized flash flooding will continue to be a risk with any storm.
