Morning fog continues, storms return this weekend & next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast

Someone mentioned on my facebook page that this weather could be described as “mildew” and I think that is a great descriptor. Morning fog, afternoon sunshine with plenty of passing clouds. Mild but not hot and ample humidity.

That will continue to be the name of the game the next few days. The weather pattern is baked in through about Saturday. By Sunday and into next week we get two weather systems through the region that should finally break this pattern.

The first one on Sunday will offer the chance for showers and storms, but the threat for severe weather will be a bit limited. That is some good news. While I don’t think the threat for severe weather is “zero” I do think it’ll be on the lower end of the scale.

Model guidance shows the system pretty disorganized as it passes through Sunday morning with showers and storms around sunrise. The skew-t suggests storms will not be surface-based – meaning a limited severe risk.

What could change that? Well, a push from a secondary warm front could increase the risk for severe weather. Is that likely? Not as much. But I suppose it is possible. And it is something I’ll monitor int eh coming days.

The system behind this one on Tuesday of next week looks a bit more potent – but may also be a bti too far away to both us.

The CIPS Analogs are picking up on the potential for severe weather with the system next week.

Based on teh early data, though, this one looks to be more of a rain and wind maker than a tornado-producer. But we have plenty of time to keep tabs on things and watch it develop.

In the meantime, enjoy the mildew weather!

  1. That’s strange. That’s the word I use to describe the rain … mildew. Just when you think it’s gone … there it is … AGAIN!
