Some rain here and there, but severe weather threat quite minimal: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 1/6/23

The big picture of the weather pattern leans toward calmer weather for the Southeast in during the next 10-14 days. And the calm spell may even stretch through the rest of the month.

the upper-level pattern keeps general troughing out west and general ridging out east. With the barrage of systems set to plow across California, it means no “big” systems carrying cold Canadian air our direction.

So while we will be mild and warmer than normal, the temperatures won’t be offset by a strong cold front every 4-7 days. Instead, we will get pacific cold fronts through the area which tend to be more benign.

Can we still get severe weather? Sure. But the likelihood is much, much lower.

And looking at the forecast data out through the end of the month, it currently only supports another one or two strong cold fronts. That means only one or two chances for severe weather. And that doesn’t show up until after the 17th and then after the 25th

So, rest easy! Until something else changes (which it may) the weather shouldn’t be bothering you much in the coming days.
