Daily chances for rain through the weekend and next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 5/4/23

Today is probably the last dry day for a while.

The exact evolution of this activity during the next few days is a bit up in the air – pun sort of intended. Shorter-range model guidance suggests either an MCS or storm clusters moving southeastward into the area or developing through the day on Friday. There’s moderate instability and sufficient deep layer shear, so at least isolated severe storms still appear possible. The primary concerns would be damaging wind gusts (particularly if an MCS develops) and large hail.

The humidity will stick around for most of next week. And with that in place it may feel like Summertime weather around here with the every day chance for rain. The difference is that these storms will have a chance to be a bit more organized that normal Summertime convection.
