Hit-and-miss showers this weekend, then cooler and drier next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 12/19/23

Thankfully, this weather pattern seems to be pretty locked in with minimal changes during the last two or three days. That trend continued overnight last night and into this morning.

Friday night
Saturday afternoon
Sunday afternoon
Monday morning

Model guidnace doesn’t show a complete washout or an “all day rain” by any means, but showers will be in the area starting Friday night and lingering through the weekend and into Christmas.

Monday afternoon
Tuesday afternoon

By Monday evening, things may dry out temporarily, then on Tuesday the front kicks through and brings a better shot for showers and maybe a few rumbles of thunder. The good news right now is that the thret for severe weather looks to be pretty minimal.

Beyond that, we may have another shot for showers late Wednesday and into Thursday morning, then we clear things out and cool down. Model guidance shows that temperatures will be well-below normal as we close out 2023 and move into 2024 with afternoon highs around 50 and overnight lows around 30.

But that may be short-lived. WE will warm back up through the first full week of the new year and get back toward normal.
