It is another morning of patchy fog for some folks, so if you’re up and at ’em early, make sure to slow down on the roads if you run into any fog. Other than the fog, expect another dry day with above-normal temperatures due to a high-pressure system stretching from Mexico to the Lower Mississippi Valley. This will bring sunny skies and warm weather. As high pressure moves eastward, it will cause winds to pick up during the afternoon.
And it will feel quite hot in the sun today and tomorrow with the air temperature, humidity, and lack of a good breeze. The ‘Experienced Temperatures’ across the area show readings in the 100s. This temperature takes into account what it feels like sitting out in the sun, with no shade, and assuming the forecast temperature, humidity, dewpoint and wind speeds are calculated correctly.
Our next shot for rain arrives Thursday – but it isn’t look “great” at this point. Models show slight differences in the timing of this front, with the European model suggesting it will reach the northwest part of our region a bit sooner than the American model. Neither paste the area with widespread rain, but rather clusters of storms. That means isolated strong to severe storms, with damaging winds and hail up to the size of quarters are the main concerns. But even then, I think things will be pretty isolated with plenty of folks remaining dry this week.
Once that kicks through, we should dry out for the holiday weekend.
