More rain and storms today, drier toward the weekend: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 6/5/24

Another day, another chance for afternoon storms. So far, it looks like the line of storms yesterday did a good enough job mixing up the atmosphere that we aren’t likely to see that level of potency – nor organization – from storms today. But, brief heavy rain, lightning and gusty wind will be possible.

Looking ahead to Thursday and Friday, we will have a weak cold front kick through he area. It won’t do much for temperatures but it will kick off a few showers and storms. Again, there is the risk for some low-end severe weather with heavy rain, lightning, and gusty wind.

Then things should dry out a bit later on Friday, through Saturday and Sunday. High pressure will pivot a bit and allow for us to stay dry for a few days. Then the next front arrives on Monday and into Tuesday with another shot for some rain.

This front looks relatively burly (for this time of year) but is likely no match the heat of the Gulf. I expect this to slow down and stall out as is plows toward the coast. That will leave us with shots for rain late Monday, Tuesday and perhaps into Wednesday, too.
