As we usher in the first weekend of summer, there’s good news on the weather front! A cold front has swept through the region, leaving behind refreshing post-frontal drier – but not really much cooler – air. This means we can expect mostly clear skies and seasonably comfortable conditions for the next couple of days.
While temperatures during the afternoons may still feel warm under the direct June sunshine, the humidity levels will be relatively low, ranging from 30 to 40 percent. That means it will only ‘feel’ like around 95F.
That said, we will be warmer for the weekend and the humidity starts to creep back up a bit..
Saturday and Sunday look to be pretty warm as a ridge of high pressure starts to flex a bit. And while the temperatures on the maps above look very – very – warm, there’s currently no official heat advisory in place… yet.
As the entire weather pattern starts to shift a bit next week as another cold front is set to move through. That may mean another line of storms possible to kick through the area. And we may get back into a similar stormy pattern as earlier this week, and last week for a few days.
Then things start to orient into more of a summertime pattern. And we will have to keep eyes on the Central American Gyre for the chance for it to fling some tropical moisture our direction – Riley talked about this last night in her tropical update.
Big picture look at even further out suggests that after next weekend we will start to talk about ‘summertime storms’ by midweek starting to become a mainstay in the forecast — but so far no calls for MCSs to move through.
