Calm weather here while we watch the Gulf for potential tropical development: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 9/18/24

Hopefully the fog this morning didn’t slow anyone down too much. I don’t think we will see as much – or any – fog tomorrow morning.

As our local weather calms down a bit, it looks like we are setting the stage for a pretty nice weekend.

From Thursday through early next week, high pressure will dominate the region, leading to quiet, stable weather. Expect continued warm and humid conditions, with temperatures running slightly above normal. By the middle of next week, there’s a chance of isolated showers as a trough approaches, but rain will be limited mainly to northern areas.

Also, we will have to monitor the riff-raff down in the Gulf and Caribbean.

The NHC is showing a “Low” chance that we see something develop near the Yucatan during the next seven days, Model guidance continues to show *something* worth monitoring trying to develop toward the middle of next week

Trying to figure out what and where is still like throwing darts at a dart board. The image with the yellow background, you’d want to see all of the lines pointing one way to feel confident in it being accurate. And that isn’t really the case.

The map above with the white background, you’d like to see all the circles laid on top of each other to feel confident in its accuracy – and that is not the case there, either.

So, between not and the middle to end of next week, we are still playing the waiting game to figure out if there is anything to worry about.
