I missed the anniversary, but I wanted to point out that it was 10 years ago (almost to the day), that I had my first round of severe weather and tornado coverage at WDAM as the newly minted Chief Meteorologist. Seems like a lifetime ago. And honestly, I don’t remember much about the storms that night.
Here are the storms reports from the SPC for Oct 13, 2014.
A good number of wind reports and a handful of tornadoes in Louisiana and Alabama.
Nothing like that on deck for the area in the coming days. The weather actually looks pretty nice.
Post frontal tonight means temperatures and relative humidity values will be dropping. Tonight, temperatures will dip into the 40s and 50s for a cool, pleasant evening. Winds will calm overnight, setting the stage for a quiet, fall night.
Another cold front will push southward on Wednesday, keeping temperatures seasonably cool. Breezy conditions will continue, with the coldest night expected Wednesday into Thursday, where lows could drop to the upper 30s for some rural folks – mainly north of I-20.

But I’m not sold. I’ll lean on our NQLBOT AI Weather Helper for its blended forecast approach. It shows much more realistic temperatures (albeit, perhaps a tad too warm)
I would say that if you have any plants that don’t like the cold, it would be a good night to bring them inside or cover them up – though, with the wind that may be difficult.
High pressure will settle over the region through the weekend, ensuring quiet, chilly weather. Expect temperatures to slowly warm, with highs back in the upper 70s to low 80s by Monday.
