A Cooler Weekend Followed By Warm and Gusty to Start the Week – Weekend Forecast for MS/AL/LA 11/16/24

So far we’ve had a wonderful sunny Saturday to start off the weekend after a humid past few days. The cold front came in and cleared all that out and we’re going to have a solid weather weekend. When the weekend is over, we’ll have some strong, gusty winds and a storm to follow.

Today, the weather will be a nice mid-70s day with barely any wind. Perfect end to the day and it’ll be a mild night if you’re going out tonight. The low will only reach the mid-50s, so a light jacket is needed if you’re going to be outside for a decent amount of time. Overnight, we’ll also see some patchy fog rolling in the early morning until after sunrise, so be careful if you’re driving early in the morning or early to church.

Tomorrow, the temperature will rise a little further into the upper 70s as the southeast winds prevail. It’ll make things a little more humid overall with a few clouds rolling in. Overnight, the temperature will fall to only around 60, but not much fog compared to Sunday morning.

Looking at Monday, we’ll see a surface gradient along with the mid and upper levels aligning to increase the wind speed across much of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Wind gusts up to 50mph are possible further west while up to 35mph are across Mississippi and western Alabama. Temperatures will reach the low 80s with partly cloudy skies.

A low pressure system developing out of Mexico will be bringing in much of the rain as it matures over the Central US. As this takes form, the remnants of Tropical Storm Sara will also be absorbed into the cold front. Combine these two and we’ll have quite a bit of rain coming in overnight into Tuesday. It’ll be quite a windy and stormy night, however the severe threat looks fairly low so far. Over the 24 hour period, it looks like up to 4 inches are possible across the Pine Belt with an average around 1.5 to 2 inches across much of Louisiana and South Mississippi.

I’ll keep you updated on this tomorrow, for now, enjoy your weekend!
