We are still looking at some chances for rain in the coming days, but it looks like the threat for storms and severe weather is all but over. This next system, Thursday night, may be worth monitoring, but it looks like most of the rain will be post-frontal and not surface-based, which will really limit the chance it has any muscle at all.
Then we get a break for a day or two before another system rolls through. Again, no severe weather here either.
Then we calm down into the following week. Originally, it looked like another system was going to glide into the area by midweek, but model guidance has pulled back on that. So we may get into another dry stretch for a few days.
In all, not a bad forecast. A bit damp to start, but we are also a bit dry at the moment. The last Drought Monitor update shows parts of Mississippi and Louisiana as “Abnormally Dry” or in a “Moderate Drought.”
So a few days of rain is probably a good thing.

‘Abnormally dry’?? Evidently, whoever puts these things out hasn’t been at my house in the last year or 2. I would say we’ve been rather ‘Abnormally wet’. A good week or 2 without any of the wet stuff would REALLY be a blessing right now. They keep putting out future data, while ignoring past data.
Yeah, I am not fully certain what goes into how they classify drought levels. But I know that the first two tiers are mainly just for the ag community. I don’t think us regular people can tell the difference.
