After the lingering showers have exited east, we’ll have a fairly cool and gloomy winter-like Saturday ahead of us. Temperatures will top around 50 during the day due to some gusty North winds moving cold air towards the South. Looking at the 500mb analysis above, there’s a more polar-like airmass overhead that will bring much cooler, drier air to us over the next few days.
Overnight, temperatures will reach the freezing point as far south as the LA/MS border and close to freezing closer to the coastline. Clouds will clear out overnight and lead to a sunny sky over most of the South with temperatures reaching the low to mid 50s with some cold north winds, but overall a nice February day. Monday morning we’ll fall into the upper 20s to low 30s for the low temperatures before reaching the upper 50s during the day. A strong high pressure system will remain over us for the next several days, but we’ll warm up quite a bit.
