As we approach Christmas, we’ll encounter a warming trend for the next several days as a few low pressure systems move in from the Rockies. Unfortunately for us, that also means a rainy Christmas week. So for those hoping for a cool, crisp winter day on Christmas, it’ll likely be mild and damp. The next few days approaching the weekend will be the same with another system approaching us before finally moving in towards the weekend.
Starting tomorrow, we’ll be on the warming trend with winds shifting towards the east southeast as a northeastern high remains on the Atlantic. This will create a slight blocking pattern and keep the winds to the east southeast for the next few days. The high from southern Canada will move east as a low pressure system sets up in the Rockies. As it moves east, we’ll have an influx of moisture flow and allow for rain from late Tuesday into Wednesday.
This isn’t a particularly stormy type of system, mainly just scattered to moderate rainfall during the day. It’ll be a fairly mild day with temperatures topping out in the upper 60s for areas that aren’t seeing rain and in the 50s for those that are. This will remain through the majority of the day into the evening hours. Thursday, we’ll have a quick break from the rain as a small high moves in, but temperatures will remain in the upper 60s and fall into the 50s overnight.
Friday will be a more scattered chance of rain for Mississippi and eastward as the low moves towards Canada and loses its dynamic as it dissipates. Temperatures will reach the low 70s across the board with more humid conditions for the next few days. Saturday will be the most potent chance for rain with higher moisture available. Some areas may see over an inch of rain on Saturday as the system moves in. Two bands of showers may be possible during the day. This will leave during the evening. Going into Sunday, we’ll still be fairly warm getting closer to January with temperatures in the low 70s and lows in the 40s.
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
