If you are up bright (err… dark) and early this morning you are probably catching a few flashes of lightning in the distance. There are currently (as of 4:45am central) a few storms rumbling through Borger and Pampa. Chances are you can see a few streaks of lightning from these guys if you are looking from Amarillo to the northeast.
The skies should remain a mixture of sun and clouds this morning before giving way to mostly sunny conditions around noon. There may be another bout with clouds as the clock settles toward dinner time, too.
Today, there will be a lull in the action as far as rain chances. The subsidence behind the frontal boundary that moved through overnight will squash any chances for organized storm development. While a thunderstorm here or there cannot be ruled out, any storm that does fire will have a difficult time keeping itself together.
By the time it is all said and done this afternoon, the high in Amarillo will creep to 94 degrees.
