Another cold day for the Texas panhandle. It is starting to feel more like December in Amarillo than (almost) March.
Look for the mid- to upper-40s to be the main players for today’s temps. Amarillo we’ll only manage to climb to 45 degrees under a mostly sunny sky. Meanwhile the average high for today is 58.
Snow pack can do wonders to an afternoon high temperature!
Not to give anyone a “here we go again” feeling, but another round of flurries is headed toward the Texas panhandle.
Tonight and into tomorrow morning cloud cover will increase and by tomorrow morning a few places could realize a trace amount of rain or snow. A weak disturbance in the atmosphere will move through but lack a lot of juice for significant precip.
Look for total accumulation of precipitation to be less than .05″ of rain, snow or a combination of the two. By tomorrow afternoon the chances for precip wind down and Amarillo will be stuck in the 40s again.
Evaporational cooling sucks! (a little weather humor for you, the explanation can be found here)
Finally by the weekend the high plains starts to work out of this winter-like rut. Temperatures glide back into the50s and 60s.
