Baseball Forecast- 6/25/24

We have plenty of fun games to forecast for with the Yankees playing in the Subway Series against the Mets and the Renegades playing at home. We will be watching for some thunderstorms for our two minor league teams on Wednesday which may cause some issues and some cooler weather for Thursday night. Let’s take a swing at it!

New York Yankees

Tonight the Yankees take on the Mets for the first game of the Subway Series at Citi Field in Queens at 7:10pm EDT. The Yankees won’t have to travel far to get some nice weather with temperatures in the mid 80s for the start of the game and cooling down to the upper 70s as we head towards the end of the game. Humidity will be moderate, just under 50% which is fairly comfortable with a light breeze at field level. For ball travel the wind will carry it up some with winds at 150ft around 10-13mph and blowing out towards left field. Some moderate cloud cover will help keep the feels like temperatures a bit cooler than the surface temperature especially in the higher level seats. Overall really nice weather for some baseball!

Ballpark Forecast for Tuesday at Citi Field

The Subway Series continues at Citi Field at 7:10pm EDT tomorrow night. Temperatures will be similar to Tuesday’s game with a slightly hotter start temperature. One major difference is the humidity will be nearly 60% at the start of the game and will increase 15% by the end of the game. This will make it a little stuffier for spectators but one nice thing is there will be a nice breeze around 8-10mph and some good cloud cover that will help keep it nice for fans. For players there will be a fairly moderate wind up at 150ft around 12-17mph pointed out towards left field. This with the heat and moisture will help carry balls that extra inch out towards left field which will help some batters out!

Ballpark Forecast for Wednesday at Citi Field

Thursday night starts the Yankees away series against the Toronto Blue Jays. The first game of the series starts at 7:07pm EDT. Temperatures will be a lot cooler up in Toronto compared to Queens with the temperatures in the high to mid 60s during the game. Humidity will be about 60% with very light winds at the surface. Up at 150ft we will see wind at about 10mph. The wind will be pointing towards ;eft field for batter practice but will shift to a north wind facing towards home plate come game time. Cloud coverage will be moderate to start the game but by the final innings it will become increasingly clearer.

Thunderstorms will be in the area for a while which may lead to a postponed or canceled game so if you plan on attending please be aware of that case. The 6:35pm EDT game against the Blue Rocks on Wednesday evening will see a chance for thunderstorms. The chance of thunderstorms in the early innings is scattered but thunderstorms are very likely in the later innings around the 7-9 innings. These storms are a bit scattered so by Wednesday the timing or exact location of these storms may change but just be aware that game time changes may be made. It will be very humid with humidity at about 80% with only a light wind coming from the west northwest which will push fly balls out to right field a bit. Be mindful of possible game changes as the likelihood of thunderstorms is fairly high for late Wednesday night.
