Baseball Forecast- 6/28/24

Some good weather for baseball this week as we look at some warming come in later this weekend for our afternoon games. Plenty to talk about so let’s get started!



New York Yankees

Tonight the Yankees face the Blue Jays again in Toronto at 7:07pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the high to mid 60s. Humidity will be around 60% for the first few innings and the increase up to 70% in the final innings. There will be slight cloud coverage for the first half of the game and will increase as the night continues. For spectators there will be a light breeze near field level which will make the evening feel nice and cool. At 150ft winds will be around 15mph infield which will make getting a ball over the wall a bit harder especially if hitting towards right field. It will be a really nice night for baseball!

Ballpark Forecast for Friday at Rogers Centre

The Yankees continue their away series against the Blue Jays on Saturday at 3:07pm EDT. We will see temperatures will warm up during the game but maintaining in the low 70s throughout. Humidity will be extremely high with full cloud coverage and rain scheduled for the first few innings. The chance of rain will decrease to around 50% for the scheduled fin all innings but considering the rainfall for the beginning of the game their a good chance of a rain delay. For wind it will be pretty gusty for the scheduled game start with winds at 150ft around 20mph and staying in the high teens throughout. The wind direction will be pointing out towards right field which will continue into the evening even if theirs a delay. Be sure to keep updated about gamete decisions regrading the status of the game.

Ballpark Forecast for Saturday at Rogers Centre

Sunday’s game at the Blue Jays at 1:37pm EDT is set to be warmer than our other weekend games. Temperatures will be in the mid 70s for the afternoon with humidity around 50%. Some light cloud coverage for most of the game but that will start to increase through the later afternoon. Some light winds at field level and winds at 150ft starting at 10mph and increasing to 15mph in the final innings. The wind will be pointing towards first base which could change of the motion of the ball and curve it towards the right. It will be a great afternoon for some baseball watching!

Brooklyn Cyclones

The Cyclones continue their series against the IronBirds at 7:05pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the mid 70s and will slightly cool down but maintain in the mid 70s range. Humidity will be around 50% during batting practice and increase to 70% by the end of the game with clear skies. Winds will be gusty around 20mph at 150ft heading towards right field. Overall a pretty nice night!

Saturday’s game for the Cyclones versus the Blue Claws takes place at 6pm EST. Temperatures will be in the low 80s for the entire game with humidity around 60%. Before the game begins we will see a decent chance for scattered thunderstorms that could delay the game slightly. We do see that chance for thunderstorms decrease throughout the game until the final few innings where that chance of thunderstorms increases again. It will be mostly cloudy throughout the game and if thunderstorms stay close to the area the game may be delayed or postponed a day. Winds will be pretty breezy around 15mph off the coast heading infield.

On Saturday the Cyclones will play the IronBirds at 7:05pm EDT in Aberdeen. It will be much warmer with temperatures in the mid 80s with lots of humidity. Humidity will be around 70% and continue to increase throughout the game. Cloud cover will be 100% with a potential for a thunderstorm at the end of the game. Winds will be around 10-15mph and gustier at 150ft at around 20mph pointing out towards right field. A very moist and windy night which might help move the ball a little further outfield.

The 2pm EST game on Sunday will be the last of the Cyclones series against the Blue Claws. Temperatures will be hot as we head into our peak with the high at 90 degrees. It will be mostly cloudy with expected cloud cover at 70% with humidity at about 50%. It will be pretty gusty with winds around 15mph coming off the shore and gusts up to 30mph. This will make getting balls far in the outfield difficult and outfield players will likely step further in since flys won’t travel as far. There is a slight chance for some scattered thunderstorms so be aware if attending of that possibility.

The Cyclones close out their series against the IronBirds at 2:05pm EDT on Sunday. The afternoon will be very hot with a high of 91 degrees and temperatures will stay near the upper 80s. Humidity will be about 60% and there will be a real feel of nearly 100 degrees. There’s about a 75% chance of precipitation which includes a thunderstorm especially near the later innings. Winds will be low with some gusts at 150ft in the mid teens pointing towards the infield. Be mindful about scattered thunderstorms that could affect game play.

Hudson Valley Renegades

The Renegades play against the Blue Rocks for their home series tonight at 7:05pm EDT. Batting practice will be pretty warm with temperatures in the upper 70s but they will cool down to the low 70s and upper 60s by the end of the game. Humidity will start off low but increase to nearly 60% as the evening goes on with clear skies. Winds will be very calm to start the game and pick up slightly by the second half of the game with winds in the later innings around 10mph at 150ft towards third base. The light wind and low humidity won’t have much effect on ball movement.

Ballpark Forecast for Friday at Heritage Financial Field

Saturday night the Renegades play the Blue Rocks at 7:05pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the mid 70s and be on a slight cool down as the evening continues. It will be very cloud with a slight change of some rain and the humidity will be very high. There will be a slight breeze at the surface and wind in the low teens at 150ft. The wind direction will be going towards third base. There is a slight chance for lightning towards the later innings so just be mindful.

Ballpark Forecast for Saturday at Heritage Financial Field

On Sunday afternoon the Renegades play the final game of their series against the Blue Rocks at 2:05pm EDT. Temperatures will be much hotter than the past two games with temperatures in the mid to high 80s throughout the afternoon. Humidity will be in the upper 50% with cloud coverage also around 50%. There is a slight chance for lighting during batting practice but it’s most likely nothing to worry about. Winds will be light, around 10mph at 150ft towards right field. The wind may help carry some balls but the air is sinking so it seems like there will be little effect on the ball motion.
