Baseball Forecast- 7/2/24

The Yankees start a home series against the Reds this week after a tied series against the Blue Jays. Our two minor league teams play each other this week with the first few games played in Brooklyn and the weekend in the Hudson Valley. Plenty of fun games as we start July so let’s jump into it!

New York Yankees

Tonight the Yankees start their home series against the Cincinnati Reds at 7:05pm EDT. The start of the game will have temperatures in the low 80s but we will see a 10 degree drop by the end of the game with temperatures around 70 degrees. Humidity will start out really low but will get to around 60% by the final innings. We will see very low surface winds and at 150ft winds will be around 10mph. These winds will be points towards left foul zone which might cause some slight curving but very minimal impact overall. Some increasing clouds in the second half of the game for a partly clear evening. A great start to a home series weather wise!

The Yankees play the Reds on Wednesday night at 7:05pm EDT. Temperatures will start in the mid 70s and cool to the low 70s by the end of the game. Humidity will start at around 50% and increase to 70% and cloud coverage will start very low and increase to 20% by the end of the game. There will be some fair winds with surface level winds around 10mph and winds around 20mph up at 150ft. Winds will be pointed out towards the left foul zone and with strong gusts we might see ball movement toward that direction more often. The wind might cause some more fouls for this game!

For July 4th the Yankees finish their series against the Reds at 1:05pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the mid 80s with peak temperatures during the 4-7th innings. Humidity will remain in the mid 50% range with light surface winds. The winds up at 150ft will be around 8mph pointing out towards left center field and shifting to left field by the final innings. We will see increasing cloud coverage through the game within mostly cloudy skies for the game. The mid humidity and light winds outfield might help with ball movement outwards but not much.

Brooklyn Cyclones & Hudson Valley Renegades

The Cyclones are the home team for their series against the Renegades tonight at 7pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the mid 70s and will cool down to the low 70s by the end of the game with humidity increasing from 56% to around 70%. It will be pretty low winds with some wind around 12mph at 150ft. The wind will be coming from the outfield pointing towards home plate which will slightly keep fly balls more infield. We will see a few clouds come into the sky in the final innings but overall a really clear night!

Ballpark Forecast for Tuesday at Maimonides Park

Wednesday night’s game for the Cyclones at home against the Renegades starts at 7pm EDT. The weather will be very similar to Tuesday night with temperatures in the mid 70s cooling to the low 70s by the end of the game. We will see that humidity a little more with the first few innings having around 60% humidity and we will see around 70% by the final innings. Winds will be a little calmer with winds around 10mph at 150ft. Light gusts will flow at ground level which will be nice for spectators. The wind will be pointed infield again which will be more beneficial for defending than hitters. There will be more cloud coverage with coverage around 50% but that won’t make much difference especially after sunset. Another nice night for a game!

On Independence Day the Renegades will be the home team against the Cyclones for their 7:05pm EDT game. Temperatures will be in mid 80s for the first half of the game but will cool after sunset to the high 70s. It will be a fairly humid night with humidity at around 60% for the first few innings and increasing to around 85% by the end of the game. There will be very minimal winds at the surface and only some light gusts up at 150ft. Winds will pointed out towards left center and will shift more towards left field as the game continues. This means wind will have very little impact on ball motion and it will be all on the hitters to get some homers. There will be medium cloud coverage that will slowly decrease by the end of the game so viewing the post-game fireworks should be fairly good.

  1. Ok i love the baseball forecast. Since you are working with Nick maybe throw a couple of baseball forecasts in for the MBraves in Jackson and the Shuckers in Biloxi.

    1. We have the data for that! Though, I’m not sure if MEgan has the time to tackle that… I’ll leave it up to her! But its a great idea!
