Baseball Forecast- 8/2/24

August baseball is in full swing and we have lots of games to forecast for this weekend. As we heat up the potential for scattered thunderstorms increases in many of our ballpark regions. Let’s jump into the details!

New York Yankees

Tonight the Yankees play the Toronto Blue Jays at 7:05pm EDT. Temperatures will start in the mid 80s and cool down to the upper 70s by the end of the game. Humidity will be on the rise as we start at around 60% and increase to around 80%. It will be pretty cloudy during batting practice but for the majority of the game cloud coverage will be around 50% with some clearing in the later innings. I wouldn’t rule out the chance for a scattered thunderstorm since there will some in the area. Winds will be pretty light at the surface but at 150ft winds will be more around 10mph especially in the mid to late innings. Winds will be pointing out towards the left outfield which might move some fly balls in that direction.

Ballpark Forecast for Friday at Yankee Stadium

The Yankees play Saturday afternoon at 1:05pm EDT against the Blue Jays. It will be a pretty hot game with temperatures in the upper 80s and humidity lingering in the low to mid 60% range. Cloud coverage will be pretty high, around 70% for the game. There is some potential for thunderstorms especially for spectators leaving the game but they are likely to hold off until after the game. Winds will be pretty light at the surface and at 150ft they will be around 10mph. These winds will be pointing towards left center field which might help carry fly ball motion out field more. I am hoping for no thunderstorms until I am on the train back home as I will be attending this game on Saturday!

Ballpark Forecast for Saturday at Yankee Stadium

Sunday at 1:35pm EDT the Yankees close out their series against the Blue Jays. Temperatures will be hot like Saturday in the upper to mid 80s. Humidity will be between the mid 50% range to about 60%. It will be cloudy throughout the game with a chance for some thunderstorms during the final few innings of the game. That rain chance will be much higher for after the game and extra innings so be prepared for that if attending the game. Winds will be around 5mph at the surface and at 150ft winds will be around 10mph pointed towards left center field. Hopefully the thunderstorms hold off until after the game but be ready for a potential thunderstorm to pop out quick in the final innings.

Biloxi Shuckers

Tonight the Shuckers take on the Trash Pandas at 6:35pm CDT. Temperatures will be hot in the low 90s to start and will cool only to the upper 80s. Humidity will be gradually increasing throughout the game starting around 65% and climbing up to around 76%. There will be some clouds during batting practice but those will give way to very clear skies come game time. Winds will be around 10mph at the surface. At 150ft winds will be stronger around 17mph pointed towards left field. This means the wind could have an impact of ball motion especially if the ball is traveling at higher levels.

Ballpark Forecast for Friday at MGM Park

The Shuckers continue their series against the Trash Pandas at 6:05pm CDT on Saturday. temperatures will be in the upper 80s with humidity between 70% and 75%. Skies will be partly cloudy with very light winds at the surface. Up at 150ft winds will still be very light only around 6mph pointed towards left field into the left foul line. It will be pretty hot and muggy and with limited cloud coverage and almost no wind which means the real feel will be very hot so be prepared and drink lots of water if you plan on attending this game.

Ballpark Forecast for Saturday at MGM Park

Sunday at 5:05pm CDT the Shuckers finish their series against the Rocket City Trash Pandas. Temperatures and humidity will be similar to Saturday with temperatures in the upper 80s and humidity around 70%. It will be partly cloudy with cloud coverage clearing as the game gets into the middle innings. Winds will be light at the surface as well as up at 150ft. This means the wind will have no effects on ball motion so it will be all on the players for this one!

Hudson Valley Renegades

The Renegades continue their series against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws at 7:05pm EDT. It will be a pretty mild evening with temperatures lingering in the mid 70s. However the temperatures will feel much warmer because humidity will be nearly 100% due to some showers in the area. Batting practice might be canceled or moved indoors due to rain showers and potential the game could also be delayed. The rain is supposed to let up for game time through a lingering shower is possible. Winds will be very light at all levels which leaves our main concern for the game being rain. Hopefully the rain will hold off but with these summer storms they can pop up seemingly out of nowhere.

Ballpark Forecast for Friday at Heritage Financial Field

Saturday at 5:05pm EDT the Renegades play the BlueClaws. Temperatures will be in the low 80s and will be on a slight cool down. Humidity will start at around 70% and increase to about 85% by the final innings. Cloud coverage will be around 50% and we are watching some scattered shower before the game but as of now game time looks pretty clear in terms of precipitation. Winds at the surface will be around 5mph with winds at 150ft around 10mph pointed towards left field. Make sure to keep an eye out for some rain as you head to the stadium for this game!

Ballpark Forecast for Saturday at Heritage Financial Field

On Sunday the Renegades close out their series against the BlueClaws at 2:05pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the mid 80s and humidity will be around 65%. It will be cloudy to start the game but as the afternoon continues those clouds will start to give way to some sun. By the final innings cloud coverage will decrease to about 55%. Winds will be very light at all levels and pointing towards left field. The clouds will keep it cool to start but once the sun comes out towards the final innings it will feel much warmer for this game.

Mississippi Braves

The M-Braves play the Tennessee Smokies at home at 6:35pm CDT tonight. Temperatures will be hot starting the the low 90s and only cooling down to the mid 80s. Humidity will start lower around 50% but increase to around 65% by the end of the game. Cloud coverage will be light with no major chances for rain. There is that slight chance for a thunderstorm as there is with every hot summer afternoon and evening. Winds will start slightly stronger at 150ft around 10mph but be more consistently around 7-8mph. Winds will be pointed towards center field which might help bring some fly balls that extra length out. A pretty hot night especially in the first half of the game while the sun is out.

Ballpark Forecast for Friday at Trustmark Park

At 6:05pm CDT on Saturday the M-Braves continue their series against the Smokies. Similar temperatures to Friday with temperatures in the upper to mid 80s. Humidity also similar with humidity starting around 50% and increasing to about 64%. It will be a very clear evening which means the sun will keep the real feel hotter until the sun sets. Winds at the surface will be around 5mph and up at 150ft they will be around 10mph. Winds will be pointed towards the right outfield foul line so we will have the potential for some more foul balls out to right field though I think the winds impact on the ball will be negligible.

Ballpark Forecast for Saturday at Trustmark Park

Sunday afternoon the M-Braves take on the Smokies at 2:05pm CDT. A very hot game with the temperature at about 92 degrees for the entire game. Humidity will be lower than the past few days only at about 45%. Cloud coverage will be low which means the sun will be beating down on players and spectators alike. Winds will be very light at the surface and only around 7mph up at 150ft. This means no relief from the midday sun. Be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen and drink lots of water if you plan on attending this game. It will be a hot one!
