Baseball Forecast- 8/9/24

A pretty nice weekend after some delays in games because of the rain. Temperatures will be on the cooler side for our northern teams while the M-Braves in the south will get a bit of a break from the humidity. Let’s dive into it!



New York Yankees

The Yankees start a new series against the Texas Rangers tonight at 7:05pm EDT. The temperature will be at 77 degrees with humidity around 90%. We will have full cloud coverage with rain showers in the area for batting practice then giving way for a bit but coming back in the later innings. Winds at the surface are around 13mph and at 150ft winds will be around 23mph. The direction will be towards the left foul line. These winds might affect ball motion especially at 150ft.

Ballpark Forecast for Friday at Yankee Stadium

Saturday afternoon’s game against the Rangers at 1:05pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the low 80s with humidity around 50%. There will be clear skies with winds around 6mph at the surface. At 150ft winds will be around 11mph out towards center field. Overall a pretty nice afternoon especially in the shade.

Ballpark Forecast for Saturday at Yankee Stadium

Sunday afternoon at 1:35pm EDT the Yankees close out their series against the Rangers. The temperature will be at 81 degrees with humidity at around 40%. It will be partly cloudy with winds at the surface around 7/8mph. Winds at 150ft will start around 11mph and increase to around 15mph by the end of the game. These winds will be pointing towards center field. Another good afternoon for some baseball!

Brooklyn Cyclones

Tonight the Cyclones face our Hudson Valley Renegades at 7pm EDT. The temperature will be at 78 degrees with humidity lingering around 88%. It will be cloudy throughout the evening with a good chance of showers in the later innings. It will be quite windy with winds around 21mph at the surface and around 31mph at 150ft. These strong winds will be pointing towards home plate and will definitely affect how far the ball will move outfield.

Ballpark Forecast for Friday at Maimonides Park

The Cyclones continue their series against the Renegades at 6pm EDT on Saturday. Temperatures will start around 80 degrees and cool to the upper 70s. Humidity will start around 53% and increase to around 63%. It will be a clear evening with winds at the surface around 8mph. Winds at 150ft will start around 13mph and weaken to about 11mph by the final innings. These winds will be pointing out towards left field. The winds may help move fly balls out a little further towards left field.

Sunday the Cyclones finish their home series at 2pm EDT. The temperature will be at 80 degrees with humidity at around 43%. It will be partly cloudy with winds at the surface around 10mph. At 150ft winds will be around 14mph pointing towards left field. A pretty nice afternoon for some Sunday baseball!

Mississippi Braves

The M-Braves continue to play the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at 6:35pm CDT tonight. Temperatures will start in the upper 80s and cool to the mid 80s during the game. Humidity will start around 46% and increase to 56% as the game continues. It will be a very clear night which is why after sunset we will get a decent cooldown. Winds at the surface will be around 5mph while winds at 150ft will be around 10mph. These winds will be pointing towards the right foul line. A hot but not so humid evening for a change.

At 6:05pm CDT the M-Braves host the Blue Wahoos on Saturday. Temperatures will be similar to Friday starting in the upper 80s and cooling to the mid 80s. Humidity will start around 50% and increase slightly to 52%. We will see some clear skies for the post-game fireworks. Winds will be light at the surface and at 150ft they will be around 8mph. These winds will be pointing towards the right foul line. A great evening for some summer baseball.

Sunday afternoon at 2:05pm CDT the M-Braves finish their series against the Blue Wahoos. The temperature will be at 91 degrees with humidity at 41%. It will feel pretty warm as cloud coverage will only be around 20% to start the game but increase to around 50% by the end of the game. Winds at the surface will be light and at 150ft they will be slowly straightening from 5mph to 8mph. These light winds will vibe pointing towards the right foul line. A pretty hot afternoon so be sure to stay cool and hydrated.
