The National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued a Blizzard Warning…Which is in effect from 6 pm this evening to 3 am cst Tuesday. The winter storm watch is no longer in effect.
* Event…Snow will increase in intensity tonight and continue into Monday across the panhandles. Total snowfall accumulations of 8 to 14 inches will be likely across the central and eastern texas and Oklahoma panhandles with 3 to 8 inches across the western texas and Oklahoma panhandles. In addition…Strong northerly winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour with gusts to 60 miles per hour will create extremely dangerous travel conditions.
* Timing…Snow could start over the Oklahoma panhandle and the northern Texas panhandle as early as this afternoon. The snow will Then spread south across the remainder of the texas panhandle this Evening. Snow will continue through monday night.
* impacts…Snow and blowing snow will reduce visibilities to near zero at times. White out conditions will be likely in many spots tonight into monday. Roads will be snow packed…Icy…And likely impassible.
