Calm weather continues, isolated storms return: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 5/31/23

Today and tonight, there’s a low-pressure system hovering over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. It’s bringing in dry air to our area, and the moisture levels are not very high. We might see some scattered rain in central and eastern Mississippi later in the day, but it won’t be too significant.

The air up there is warm and dry, so any showers that do form will have a tough time developing. There might be a bit of fog in some low-lying areas overnight.

Looking ahead to Thursday and beyond, it looks like things will stay relatively calm. We might have a few isolated showers and storms on Thursday, especially in the southeastern parts of Mississippi. But overall, the rain chances will be low, and the weather will be mostly dry. Temperatures will start to climb over the weekend, reaching the upper 80s to lower 90s during the day, and the nights will be in the 60s. The humidity will also increase, thanks to moist air coming in from the Gulf of Mexico.

By Sunday, there will be a system coming from the northeast coast, which will break down the weather pattern we’ve had recently. This will bring some northwesterly winds, concentrating the moisture in the western and southwestern parts of our area. We may see some scattered showers in the afternoons. Temperatures next week will be similar, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and nighttime temperatures in the middle to upper 60s.
