Chilly few nights ahead, with some rain possible, too: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 12/3/24

Through Wednesday morning, high pressure dominates the region, maintaining calm conditions with cold air lingering behind last night’s front. Overnight lows will drop to around 32F for most folks inland and into the 20s for spots near and north of I-20.

Closer to the water, temperatures will only drop into the mid 30s.

Daytime highs on Wednesday will briefly rebound into the upper 50s and low 60s as southerly flow returns. By Wednesday night, a low-pressure system near Brownsville will begin moving along the Gulf Coast, increasing rain chances across the area.

Rainfall will persist into Thursday before being swept out by another cold front, ushering in cold, dry polar air. Temperatures will drop into the 20s Thursday night, and Friday’s highs will struggle to exceed 50F.

Chilly stuff!

Looking ahead, guidance diverges on the next round of rain, with some suggesting early rain Saturday, but the consensus points to Sunday-Monday as the main event. Heavy rainfall is possible, with totals of 2-3 inches or more, though weak instability may limit storm activity. While a flood threat exists, its severity depends on how quickly rain accumulates. Expect forecast adjustments as details evolve.
