Cold air still on schedule, flurries still possible but not likely, and things look to rebound late next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 12/22/22

No big changes to the forecast overnight. Last night, we did see the model data lean toward a colder temperatures on Friday morning with many places down into the 13F to 18F range. But overnight the models didn’t change from that much.

It still looks pretty cold Friday morning. Here is a look at the temperatures and wind chills values for the region on Friday morning around sunrise.

Unpleasant. To say the least.

Looking at the Skew-T data from the HRRR model, it looks like there may be a brief window around 10p for some folks to see some ice crystal flurries.

But those flurries will be about as meaningful and fleeting as the light mist showers we have seen the last two nights.

I’ll try to get a post with preparedness tips up later this morning. But I will suggest that if you have outdoor spigots at your house that you wrap them ASAP and let your faucets drip starting Thursday night and all the way through Sunday – not just as night.
