Things continue to look drier across the area. As we head into this weekend, high pressure is going to build into the region, this will open up the door for plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures to move in, too.
Headed to a Football game tonight? Things will start mild and end almost – almost! – cool. Temperatures will be hovering around 80 as you head out the door to the game, but by the time the final whistle blows, the thermometer will be a bit closer to 70!
Through the weekend, that ridge to our southwest is building this direction, which means it will not be a cool, fall-like ridge of high pressure, but more of a late-summer ridge of high pressure.
And that ridge is likely going to hold into and through most of next week, too. There will be a few chances to beat it back to the east a little bit, though. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as a decently vigorous system passes by to the northwest, there may be just enough energy in the atmosphere to sneak out a shower here or there.
It isn’t very likely at all, but given the streak we’ve been on with rain, it is hard to bet against at least a few showers developing.
And then, as we move toward next weekend, it looks like some troughing in the area may finally knock that ridge back into the Gulf on Thursday and Friday. That may actually open the door for showers and storms to develop.
By next Saturday, the ridging that looks to redevelop in Texas (image above) moves northeast into the follow week. That puts the Gulf Coast in a precarious weather position. with no real ridging aorund to stave off anything in the Gulf or Caribbean.
That’s not to say anything developing out there is imminent, but if there were to be anything out there, it wouldn’t have any issues drifting toward the northern Gulf Coast. And historically, things that form out there, tend to drift in our direction this time of year.
