Dry again, with a few storms possible this weekend: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 8/31/23

It should be drier again today. In fact, today may be an almost carbon-copy of yesterday.

Morning temperatures
Afternoon temperatures

And that gets me thinking – how many people even know what a “Carbon copy” is anymore? And why it is even a saying?

Anyway. no real “good” shot for rain today. I suppose we can’t rule out a shower or storm, but we shoudl remain pretty dry.

That starts to change on Friday when we start to return to the chance for afternoon storms driven by daytime heating and the seabreeze. It also means the return of our friend, humidity. We will hold the humidity and the chance for rain through the weekend. I wouldn’t cancel any outdoor plans, but I would keep an eye to the sky and the NickelBlock Forecasting Weather App handy!

We dry out again as we move through next week. But the evolution of the weather pattern into next week isn’t fully clear yet. Soem indications are that we dry out and warm back to around 100F while other guidance suggests drier, sure, but not quite as hot.

  1. Carbon Copy … when carbon paper was used to make a duplicate when writing a document such as a receipt. Term used when making an exact copy. As far as next week’s (possibly longer) forecast, there’s another term … Indian Summer. Might be a little early for that, though?
