Foggy mornings ahead, then severe storms possible by next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 12/8/22

Another foggy morning. Really foggy in some spots. This weather pattern is not friendly for landing planes, driving cars, or any activity where visibility is key. I will say, though, it would make for some great Halloween night weather!

I know, I know… it’s almost Christmas.

But I have good news! This foggy, warm, humid, eventually stormy weather will pass by next week and it may set the stage for some chilly air to settle in for the week leading up to Christmas.

In the meantime: mild, humid and foggy with storms possible as we head through the weekend and into next week. The Storm Prediction Center has increased the severe weather risk next Tuesday and Wednesday to an Enhanced Risk across parts of Louisiana and Arkansas. It has also expanded the Slight Risk to include more of the region across Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri Oklahoma, Texas and the rest of Louisiana.

This expanded risk area is supported by a lot of the model data, including the CIPS Analogs.

The CIPS Analogs shows a bit sider spread for the potential for severe weather, and it crosses two days, which means some folks will be dealing with storms overnight next Tuesday into Wednesday morning.

For now, this is worth monitoring, but I wouldn’t lose too much sleep over it.
