Generally dry through Thanksgiving… then the rain returns: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 11/18/22

No major changes to the forecast, it still looks like most of the action will be down into the Gulf during the next few days with only a few chances that a stray shower drifts far enough north to give the area any rain.

The next ‘good’ chance for rain arrives around Thanksgiving as the next cold front swings through. There is still some question about how much warmth we can pool ahead of the front. The more warmth, the higher the risk for severe weather.

So far that threat looks relatively low. The CIPS Analogs from Saint Louis University are showing only about a 50-percent shot that, historically-speaking, we get back up to 70 degrees before the next system pushes through.

And we can still get severe weather when the temperature is below 70 degrees, but it is just a little more difficult to do. So for now, I’ll keep the threat of severe weather out of the forecast… But it will need to be monitored
