Geocentricism is fine, but I prefer science

UPDATE:

The voice on the documentary below, Kate Mulgrew, posted to facebook apologizing to people for being “misinformed” about the documentary.

Also, a handful of the astrophysicists have come forward explaining that they were tricked, too.

ORIGINAL: So, I came across this post today. In summation, there is a documentary that plans to explain why the sun revolves around the earth.

Yup. That’s a real thing. And in fact the “documentary” creator isn’t alone. Did you know that one in four Americans thinks the same? And as it turns out, roughly 20- to 25-percent of Americans lack what a lot of people dub “real-world” knowledge.

Other things that – roughly – 20- to 25-percent of Americans don’t understand:

19% of Americans don’t know which country from which the United States gained independence

18% of Americans think President Barack Obama is Muslim

28% of Americans believe Joe Paterno molested children

19% of Americans don’t know who Martin Luther King is

25% of Americans don’t know all five freedoms guaranteed in the First Amendment

19% of Americans know that America once had a budget surplus

21% of Americans believe that aliens crashed in Roswell, New Mexico

20% of Americans think there is a link between vaccines and autism

15% of Americans think that the government and the media add mind-controlling technology to television boradcasts

28% of Americans think there is a thing called the “New World Order”

20% of Americans don’t know where Ukraine is on a map

25% is the percentage that Americans think identify themselves as gay. The actual number is about 3%

29% of Americans think that an armed revolt to protect our liberties could soon be warranted

25% of Americans think Sherlock Holmes was a real person

So when I read that 23% don’t think global warming / climate change is real or when I learn that 25-percent of people think the sun revolves around the earth – pardon me for my lack of concern.

There will always be outliers. There will always be those who aren’t educated. Or choose not to be. The people who believe what they want to believe because it is more comfortable. That’s fine. The rest of us will continue to further scientific understanding.
