We haven’t officially hit meteorological winter yet (which starts tomorrow!), but we’ve already hit the freezing mark across the southeast with the Canadian airmass bringing in much cooler temperatures. Overall, this weekend will be much cooler than we’ve seen in a while and for you cold weather enjoyers, rejoice!
For today, much of the frost has already melted with temperatures reaching the mid 50s across the board. Few clouds in the sky in the upper levels and some calmer winds from the northwest. Tonight, we’ll have some slightly frosty conditions with much of Mississippi and Alabama reaching the freezing mark. It won’t be a hard freeze, but if you have plants or animals sensitive to the cold, bring them in.
The surface high will begin to move east as the Canadian air will supply another high pressure system beginning next week. However, with the cooler dry air from overhead, it’ll keep temperatures hovering around the mid 50s during the day on Sunday and the low 60s on Monday. Overnight, we’ll dip our toes into the freezing point, but the frost will melt after sunrise. Monday night will be a little colder than Sunday with temperatures around 30. Some mild wind gusts may be possible during the day around 10-15 mph.
