Heat wave ending this weekend for the Southeast, showers and thunderstorms possible into weekend and into next week: Southeast Weather Forecast – 6/25/2022

The heat wave affecting the Southeast is expected to continue into the weekend. Highs in the upper 90s can be expected across much of the Southeast. The weekend will also see a chance for showers and thunderstorms, which may provide a chance for some localized relief from the heat.

A line of storms Sunday evening can be expected as cooler air moves in. The ridging that was holding the heat in place is expected to weaken Sunday night into Monday and Tuesday, which should bring in cooler air.

This cooler air will spell the end of the heat wave. Temperatures will be closer to average rather than the near record breaking heat we’ve been experiencing the past two weeks. The chance for scattered storms Monday and Tuesday will provide additional relief to some areas.

On Wednesday, a new ridge is expected to form over the Southeast and remain there for the rest of the work week. This will bring an increase in temperatures. The good news, though, is that these temperatures are not expected to be as extreme as what we’ve recently been dealing with. At this point, any cooldown is a relief, no matter how little.
