Hit and miss showers possible

Good morning everyone! We’re tracking a few wayward showers on this bright (err, dark) and early morning. Places like Goodwell, Vega, Adrian, Claude, Clarendon, and Silverton have all felt a few raindrops this morning.

As we move through sunrise and into the mid-morning these showers will give way to partly sunny conditions. As we head into the afternoon a couple of showers and thunderstorms are expected to fire across the high plains.

Here in Amarillo, we’ve got about 20-percent chance to see a storm. A main buk of the action will be confined – again – to eastern New Mexico.

Highs today might be tempered by the cloud cover, but I still think we manage the low 80s in most spots. Amarillo will hit 83 this afternoon.

Tomorrow another round of showers is possible, though the coverage area will be cut in half. Most of the storms will be west of a line from Guymon to Friona.

Highs will be in the mid- to upper-80s area wide. Amarillo will tag 86 in the afternoon.

As we head toward the weekend, rain chances go down and the mercury goes up. But then again, it is July, we can’t expect it to stay this nice for too long.
