The overall pattern is going to be very summerlike in the coming days with a ridge of high pressure taking over in the Atlantic that will shove a good bit of Gulf warmth and humidity into the area.
And with the storm system track, generally to the north, that will leave the Gulf Coast warm and humid with a chance for afternoon storms almost every day. But it will also mean a continued shot for overnight clusters of storms to drift this direction from parts of Arkansas and Tennessee.
By Thursday and Friday, there may be a cold front – though it looks to be pretty weak by the time it gets here – that tries to push through the area with a better shot for storms. Some may be severe. The SPC has parts of the area under a Slight Risk for severe weather, which is a “2” on the 1-to-5 scale where “5” is the highest risk for the most significant severe weather. Right now, wind will be the main concern.
That front will help to knock temperatures back a degree or two for Saturday. Maybe.
