Hot temperatures expected throughout the week with relatively low rain chances: Coastal MS/LA/AL Weather Forecast – 6/14/22

Hot temperatures are expected throughout the next few days, and high heat indexes reaching into the 100s can be expected throughout the week and into the weekend. The chance of rain and storms is present but not very high. The best chance of rain will be Thursday night.

This image is an example of the type of storms we might see during the week: scattered and brief, yet with notable localized rainfall. This is typical for the South during the summer. The best chance for storms will be Thursday night. However, for much of the week, the storms will be very isolated, which means a lower chance of rain for any given area.

Into the weekend, the temperatures are expected to climb. Saturday and Sunday may see temperatures climb into the mid 90s. The above image shows a GFS projection of temperatures midday Saturday, although it is important to note that the GFS model can overestimate temperatures this time of year, so mid 90s is probably more realistic than 97 or 98. That being said, the heat index Saturday may reach 105.

As the weekend progresses, the air is expected to get a bit drier, which means less humidity (which may be a relief to some) but also a lower chance of rain. The dew points may drop into the 50s during the latter part of the weekend, which is low for the Gulf Coast at this time of year.
