Labor Day in Michigan for me always meant a trip to the apple orchard and crisp fall air. Labor Day in Colorado this year entails several days near 100 degrees before a strong cold front moves in and brings us the potential for snow on Tuesday and Wednesday. No big weather swings like that for Up North Michigan this Labor Day Weekend, so let’s dive right into it.
Saturday
A perfect fall day!
Northern Lower Peninsula
Mostly sunny, light wind. Highs: 68-75
Upper Peninsula
Mostly sunny, light wind. Highs: 65-70
Saturday Night
Northern Lower Peninsula
Clear, light wind. Lows: 45-50
Upper Peninsula
Clear, light wind. Lows: 50-55, except mid-40s near Sault Ste. Marie
Sunday and Monday
Clouds and rain chances move in across all of Up North Michigan
Sunday:
Mainly cloudy, scattered showers. Gusty thunderstorms possible overnight. Breezy at times near the lakes. Highs: 68-73, Lows: 47-52
Portions of Northern Lower Michigan could see heavy rain and wind gusts of 40-50 miles per hour in the storms late Sunday. We’ll be keeping an eye on this Sunday.
Monday:
Mainly cloudy, scattered showers. Breezy at times near the lakes. Highs: 67-74, Lows: 47-52
Summary
Your best bet for this weekend is to enjoy Saturday. Potentially hazardous beach and boating conditions will arise Sunday and Monday as the weather turns unsettled. A quarter to half-inch of rain possible across much of the Northern Lower Peninsula. If severe weather appears possible Sunday night, we’ll be back with a blog update then.
