Things are drying back out after today. And even saying that, today will be pretty dry.
We will hold on to about a 20-percent shot for rain today under a sky with passing clouds. The clouds – and some haze – should help to keep temperatures in the 80s. That said, given the slight drop in surface humidity today, I think most folks top out between 86F and 89F. If we hit 90F out at Bobby Chain airport, then I think the streak for consecutive 90-degree days will make it to 100 this weekend.
Again, the previous record was a bit more than 60 days in a row. We are at 96. Pretty incredible. At this point, this is now the Joe DiMaggio of temperature records. I don’t think it’ll ever be broken.
Looking out into next week, it looks like we stay warm – and generally dry – through next weekend. And the next two full weeks, according to the latest model guidance.
The pattern is starting to slowly break down, though. So we should eventually start to see better shots for rain sneak back into the forecast as we get toward the middle of October.
In fact, some of the longer-range guidance is showing a chance for some cooler weather as we get into the back half of October.
This may also feature a little bit of rain to help the drought, too.
