Mainly dry, and hot, the next few days: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Froecast – 7/30/24

Today and Tonight: The region will experience intensifying heat stress due to anticyclonic flow and westerly low-level winds, leading to temperatures reaching the mid to upper 90s under mostly sunny skies. Experienced Temperatures around 105F are likely across the area which means drink plenty of water, take breaks if you have to work outside, and be aware of heat-related nausea.

Nighttime temperatures will remain warm, struggling to drop below 80°F. Rainfall is expected to be sparse, but a handful of storms will be possible.

As we move through the week and toward the weekend, oppressive heat and humidity, particularly through the early weekend, increasing the risk of potentially dangerous heat stress. High temperatures will be in the upper 90s, with overnight lows in the middle 70s. The combination of high temperatures and humidity will result in Experienced Temperatures – factoring in heat, humidity, wun and wind – up around 105F to 110F.

While an Excessive Heat Warning is likely for some areas and a Heat Advisory is likely for others – it will be hot everywhere.

These conditions are expected to persist into Saturday. By Sunday, a frontal boundary is expected to approach as a high-pressure ridge weakens, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms to the area. Severe weather is not anticipated, but a few strong thunderstorms may occur.
