More rain, because why not: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 9/6/22

I hope everyone had a good three-day weekend. And for those who had to work, I hope you still had some free time to yourself between shifts.

The rain will continue across the region during the next week. Originally, it was looking like things were going to dry out a bit this week, but there will be just enough ‘juice’ left in the atmosphere between “good” chances for you to want to keep the umbrella handy.

Today is probably the driest day of the next seven. But there looks to be some more hope to see the sun next week.

Today
Thursday
Sunday

The maps above from Pivotal Weather show a trough being cut off into the Gulf that just spins around for a few days before finally being picked up Sunday by the next system sliding across the northern tier of the US.

While I’m never a fan of things floating around and spinning in the Gulf, I don’t think this is currently something we need to “worry” about with respect to development. Since this is a mid-level trough breaking off, it would likely take a bit longer for it to completely wrap up than the time it is currently shown to “live” in the Gulf.

What it will do is make things rather rainy across the region during the next few days and keep the air mild and humid. Rainfall totals don’t look overly robust at the moment – between 1″ to 3″ in total – across the next seven days.

Most model guidance shows the highest totals across parts of Florida and up into sections of eastern Alabama and Georgia, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few spots with higher totals in our area, too.
