More rain headed this way for the weekend: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 9/1/22

Welcome to meteorological Fall. If you’re looking for more rain, I have great news! It is in the forecast every single day. If you’re looking for drier weather, I have great news! It’ll be October soon!

Jokes aside, keep the umbrella handy for a few days – especially this weekend – as it looks like we will have a good shot for some pretty good soakers.

I thinkt he model guidance is really under-selling the rain threat this weekend, too. You may see a lot of “futurecast” stuff on TV that shows things drier but man the atmosphere is going to be pretty juiced. It’ll be hard to not squeeze out a good bit of rain.

The bottom left in the four-box above is what the NAM model things the radar will look like at 3p on Saturday. The other three boxes show how much moisture and low-level forcing there is going to be. Generally when its a darker blue you’ve got a good chance for seeing some showers. When one is purple, probably a good shot for scattered storms, when two are purple usually widely scattered storms will be possible.

All three? A really good bet for rain.

And yet, that lower-left box looks mostly dry.

So buckle up for a good shot for storms this weekend. It won’t rain all day long, but you may see one or two (maybe even three) rounds of rain that last an hour or two.
