Nice weather continues this week, storms return next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 3/1/22

For the first time in about two years, I have a head cold. And I blame Mardi Gras. On Friday I got hit in the face with some beads (I need to listen to my old football coaches: head on a swivel!) at a parade in Mobile. Didn’t hurt. But the beads hit my mouth while i was talking to the people next to me.

Fast forward 12 hours and i woke up Saturday morning with a very sore, scratchy throat and a runny nose. D’oh! The first Mardi Gras I get to attend in, like, two or three years and on the first parade, I get hit in the face and get a head cold.

That is why the forecast is out so late this morning. I slept about 12 hours last night. The good news is, having a bit of a head cold affords me plenty of time to look at the forecast!

The bad news is that the forecast is so nice, that there isn’t much to look at….

Surface pattern through Friday shows high pressure in control and very little cloud cover and no real chance for precipitation

In fact, this week looks uncharacteristically calm. Plenty of sunshine, temperatures in the 70s and 80s and lower humidity than would usually accompany this kind of weather for this time of year.

That comes to an end as we move into next week as two systems look to move through the area. One on Monday and another on Wednesday. But even right now, it looks like the threat for severe weather is on the lower end of the scale.

Monday forecast sounding from the ECMWF

So get out and enjoy the weather! Enjoy Mardi Gras! And catch some throws for me. As I will be at home, laying on the couch, watching re-runs of Star Trek TNG.
