Nice weather locally, with some burn bans, while watching tropics: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 10/2/22

Looking at the local forecast for the next week, and there isn’t much weather-wise to report. Plenty of sunshine and dry conditions. In fact, we are almost a little too dry. We actually have some burn bans that are in effect for the area given the recent dry weather.

If you’re looking at the list and asking, ‘wait, I don’t see my county… what about my county?‘ I have some good news, if your county isn’t on the list, you are no under a burn ban from the Dept of Forestry

Even if your county isn’t under a burn ban, I still think any outdoor burning should be done with a lot of caution given the dry conditions. No one wants to be responsible for starting a wildfire, and the current situation across much of the region is generally dry with a – generally – higher than normal risk for wildfires to spread easier than usual.

But it isn’t just fire concerns, there are still the Tropics to watch!

The wave entering the Caribbean is worth watching during the next few days. So far model guidance is pretty sure it will end up moving toward Belize, Honduras, or Nicaragua. But there is some data that supports it trying to eventually turn north, too.

It is still too early to tell what may or may not happen specifically. But just know that it is floating around out there and it is worth your attention. If it were to bother anyone in the US, it wouldn’t do so until late next week – at the earliest.
